I’m really thrilled to have been awarded a 6-week residency at Robert Lord Writers Cottage in Ōtepoti Dunedin in early 2025.
Five recipients of residencies at the cottage in early 2025 were recently announced. From the media release:
The Robert Lord Writers Cottage Trust is delighted to announce that six writers will take up residencies at the cottage in early 2025: Stacey Teague (University Book Shop (Otago) Summer Writer in Residence), Micky Delahunty, Tracy Farr, Gail Ingram, Annie Villiers and Dani Yourukova.
Playwright Robert Lord bought his cottage in Titan St, Dunedin, after taking up the 1987 Burns Fellowship at the University of Otago. It has been run as a rent-free residency for writers since 2003.
I’m looking forward to spending a productive six weeks in autumn of 2025 at the cottage. Ōtepoti Dunedin is a UNESCO City of Literature, and one of my favourite places in Aotearoa. I’ll be exploring several strands of writing/thought – about light/dark and text/meaning, the environment and the ocean, and identity and masking – that have connections with Dunedin, and that I hope to pull together into new fiction.
My thanks to Robert Lord Writers Cottage Trust for this opportunity.
